After a ragingly successful first edition in November, Geertruida and Hidden Agenda are proud to present UIUI Fest #2! The second edition will return to Cinetol on Sat 31st May for another celebration of underground music & sonic discovery. On the line up:
Buzz Kull (AUS)
Buzz Kull has carved out a niche as one of the darker, more subversive acts undertowing the Australian electronic landscape. He has collaborated with the likes of Liars, Ellen Alien and Kontravoid. Buzz Kull transcends the archetypal boundaries of Darkwave. A connexus linking pop sensibilities with spectral, foreboding emotional states that go beyond the circumstantial. A shadowplay of nauseating synth lines and downcast, pounding drum machines that conjure up a desolate void.
Plattenbau (DE)
Perhaps best summed up in their company slogan “Tight, loose and evilTM”, Plattenbau’s sound ranges from noise rock to new wave with arrangements akin to krautrock and even techno – owing their influences as much to the clubs as to guitar music. Despite this, all their songs have a distinctly pop element of catchy hook lines and tight arrangements. The Korg M1, a mainstay of 90s series and commercial soundtracks, makes up a heavy portion of the sound with glistening chorus strings and paranoid voice pads, while robotic drums and intricate jangly basslines form the foundations for dark baritone vocals and mystical noise guitars.
Snackbar
Amsterdam based punk quartet SNACKBAR combines noisy garagepunk with Dutch lyrics into loud and short songs; like fastfood for the ears. Their lyrics are humoristic and honest, their main sources of inspiration comes from TV-programs such as Villa Achterwerk and the local snackbar, brightly lit by fluorescent lights.
FAT CONCUBINE (UK)
FAT CONCUBINE is a techno/swing band from South East London. Their sound is fast, loud, and merciless: music that keeps you on your toes, delivered through a cult-like live show where you’ll dance, sweat, and crave more. Don’t miss them if you're a fan of The Prodigy, Suicide, Brutalismus 3000, or Crystal Castles.
LANDROSE (BE)
LANDROSE combines punk drumming and electronic music with heavy distortion. The Brussels-based artist’s second album, BRUT, captures a year’s worth of powerful live performances, channeling the energy of the stage, with drums taking center stage.
Déandrah
Déandrah is an intermedia artist whose work inhabits the space between definition and destruction. Their performances dismantle the structures that hold identity in place, allowing the subconscious to seep into the present through sound, movement, light, and distortion. Déandrah carves out space for something rawer: a presence that flickers, fractures, and insists on its own instability.
BLACK CURRANT
BLACK CURRANT is an all-female three-piece formed out of a shared desire to do things their own way and a mutual love for fuzzy guitars and dark, danceable sounds. What began as a somewhat unconventional online music publication has increasingly evolved into DJing and hosting at festivals and events.
