Automatic Noise Festival 2025 | 5th edition

The fifth edition of the International Shoegaze Festival is taking place on January 25th and 26th, 2025, featuring Sugar For The Pill (GR), Mahogany (USA), Resplandor (The Hague, NL), Dead Leaf Echo (USA), The Whistling Heads (IT), Thrilled (Rotterdam, NL), Dead By Audio (Rotterdam, NL) and Alex Kelman (SK).

Two nights full of walls of sound, distortion, ethereal vocals and beautiful noise, powered by Automatic Music, which thus begins the celebrations for its 20th anniversary.

Automatic Music is a record label and concert promoter based in the Netherlands. They have presented concerts by several shoegaze, post-punk and post-rock artists (The Jesus & Mary Chain, The Mission UK, and more). Since 2019, they are bringing the Automatic Noise Festival, showing the most exciting of the new generation of shoegaze bands and related genres from all over the world.

Sugar For The Pill (GR)
Sugar For The Pill is a Shoegaze-Dreampop band. They are influenced by early 90’s shoegaze bands like My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive, and their heavenly female vocals will remind you of indie bands like Cocteau Twins.

Mahogany (USA)
Mahogany dovetails elements of post-punk, shoegaze, disco and classical music into futuristic, symphonic compositions. The duo combines twin 12-string guitars, massive bass and a variety of synthesizers and samplers for an immersive effect known as the ‘Hypercube’.

Resplandor (NL)
Resplandor is a shoegaze, post-punk and post-rock band from The Hague. Their albums Tristeza and Pleamar have been mastered by Simon Scott of Slowdive. The band has supported artists like The Cure in 2023 and 2013, as well as The Jesus & The Mary Chain and The Radio Dept.

Dead Leaf Echo (USA)
Dead Leaf Echo is a shoegaze infused band. Their newest album, The Mercy of Women, brings a combination of shoegaze and post-punk music, with haunting melodies, syncopated beats and swirling guitars. The band is tipping its collective hat to the seminal and groundbreaking artists that propelled the genre as a whole to new heights in the 1980’s and 90’s (think The Cure, Slowdive and New Order).

The Whistling Heads (IT)
The Whistling Heads is a four-headed band from Italy that is exploring new sounds rooted in alt-rock, post-punk and new wave. Through the sound of their guitars, bass and drums, they create a chaotic cloud of noise.

Thrilled (NL)
Interesting chord progressions and big dynamic shifts caused by warm fuzzes and huge drums is what Thrilled is all about. Starting out at school where the members met, it quickly turned into something more. They are taking big inspiration from genres like shoegaze, grunge and punk and mix dreamy soundscapes with heavy guitars.

Death By Audio (NL)
Death By Audio offers full-throttle rides through desolate guitar landscapes, creating a haunting, intrusive sound that likes to get under your skin. This Dutch four-headed band knows how to engage and excite with their shoegaze music, with post-rock and post-punk influences. Their newest EP, named Beautiful Parasite, contains dazzling lovesongs packed with autumnal dejection and showcases the sound of Death By Audio well.

Alex Kelman (SK)
Alex Kelman’s music contains a mix of psychedelic post-punk and electronic music, with a 90’s twist that can be recognised from bands like The Soft Moon, Death in Vegas and The Jesus And Mary Chain. His musical output is a mixture of beautifully noisy guitars, catchy dance beats and rousing synthesizers, layered with captivating vocals.
