Dear documentary lovers,

The weather is hateful and cold, as we all miserably expected November to be. Time to warm up with some heartwarming films! This time we will be presenting beautiful pieces of celluloid by Tessa Louise Pope and Eva Nijsten.

Tessa has grown up in the surroundings of her mother, brother, half-sister and stepfather. While her real father (also a filmmaker) lives in the same city as she does, he was never around that much to be a real father. In “The Origin of Trouble” Tessa goes on a journey through all of her family members to explain her father’s absence.
In Eva’s film “Sinterklaas Bestaat” she follows Marcel, a taxi driver who really looks forward to these gloomy months. This is the time that he can transform himself into the best friend of every Dutch child: Sinterklaas. In Den Helder he spreads joy and presents, but he feels it’s getting harder every year to complete his magical illusion.

After the program a short Q&A will take place with the artists lead by our sophisticated and sassy moderator Marlon Claus.
