NL | Op 30 november 2024 presenteert Geertruida de eerste editie van UIUI Fest. Een programma van spannende artiesten met hun wortels in de underground verdeeld over de 2 zalen van Cinetol. Een festival om je favoriete artiesten te zien of nieuwe te ontdekken en om vrienden voor het leven te maken. Van post-punk en darkwave tot art-punk en noise.

dj. flugvél og geimskip maakt psychedelische, elektronische dansmuziek. De muziek is een mix tussen speelse beats, pakkende melodieën en zang. Haar teksten gaan over buitenaardse werelden, mysteries en surrealistische dromen. In haar concerten brengt dj. flugvél og geimskip muziek, verhalen, poëzie en theater samen.

PROBLEMS
PROBLEMS is een eenmansband uit Chicago die elektronische muziek met live zang maakt. De muziek is soms leuk, soms mooi, maar voornamelijk vreemd. Zijn show is energiek met een ongebruikelijke mix van stijlen als artrock, hiphop, elektronisch, punk en noise-rock.

Waterschade
Waterschade is een jonge punkband uit Haarlem die niet gediend is van het patriarchaat, racisme en uiteraard kapitalisme. Dat laten ze horen met strakke baslijnen, harde riffs en heel veel gekrijs. Met een mix van hardcore punk en riot grrrl is er gegarandeerd een moshpit.

The Earwurms
The Earwurms is een conceptuele punkband. In hun liedjes komen thema’s aan bod als de vreugde en het begrip van het banale. Ze onderzoeken hoe het vrouw-zijn hun leven beïnvloedt en hoe ze kunnen omgaan met de verwarring die daarmee gepaard gaat. Met hartige woorden en een shebang van geluid wiebelen ze je oren binnen.

Minor Crime
Minor Crime is het soloproject van de in Amsterdam gevestigde postpunkproducer David Tomlinson. Zijn liveshows zijn een hallucinogene mix van darkwave, postpunk en neo-psych, die roekeloos zijn samengeperst door middel van een scala aan synths, samples en sequencers.

Tonto
De muziek van Tonto kan noise genoemd worden, maar dan groovy als hiphop en rauw als punk. Tonto is een eenmansband met een drumstel en een stem die versterkt is in een jungle van vervormingen en digitale artefacten. In zijn muziek maakt hij gebruik van blastbeats, maar ook soms Afrikaanse polyritmiek, en veel bumbum-cha als ghettoblasta.

Chest Press
Chest Press is het doomerwave project van de in Amsterdam gevestigde Sjoerd Nieuwkoop. Beïnvloed door de koudste tonen, betreedt Chest Press het elektronische punklandschap. De muziek zit vol doordringende gitaren, begeleid door digitale lo-fi drummachines en synthesizers.

Camy Huot is een Franse performance artiest, muziekproducer en DJ, gevestigd in Utrecht. Haar voorkeur gaat uit naar de obscure tonen en kunstmatige beats van minimal wave, synth punk, electro en EBM.

BLACK CURRANT
BLACK CURRANT is ontstaan uit het gedeelde verlangen om dingen op een eigen manier te doen en een wederzijdse liefde voor fuzzy gitaren en donkere, dansbare geluiden. Wat begon als een ietwat onconventionele online muziekproductie, is inmiddels uitgegroeid tot meer en meer dj-en en hosten op festivals en evenementen, waaronder Down the Rabbit Hole en Grauzone. Het BLACK CURRANT van 2024 richt zich vooral op het delen van de muziek waar ze zelf naar luisteren.

dj. flugvél og geimskip
dj. flugvél og geimskip (Airplane & Spaceship) is the one-person orchestra of Steinunn Hardardottir that draws influences from a thousand worlds. Defined as psychedelic electronic dance-music from outer space, the music is a mix of playful beats, cool bass, catchy melodies and unusual vocals. Her live performances are highly memorable and the music deals with alien worlds, mysteries, and surrealistic dreams. Her concerts are a strange blend of music, storytelling, poetry, and theater.

PROBLEMS is a one person band, that makes composer driven electronic music. The music is sometimes very fun, sometimes beautiful, but usually strange and enjoyable. His shows are energetic, with an mix of genres like art rock, hiphop, electronic, punk and noise rock.

Waterschade
Waterschade is a young punk band from Haarlem. They are not served by patriarchy, racism and, of course, capitalism. This can be heard in their tight bass lines, riffs and lots of screaming. With their mix of hardcore punk and riot grrrl, a moshpit is guaranteed.

The Earwurms
The Earwurms is a “conceptual” punk band, created by three accidental women. Their songs mention themes like the joy and understanding of the banal. They explore how being a woman affects their lives and how to deal with the confusion that comes along with it. With savoury words and a shebang of sound they wiggle their way into your ears.

Minor Crime
Minor Crime is the solo project of New Zealand post-punk producer David Tomlinson. His live show is a hallucinogenic mix of darkwave, post-punk, and neo-psych, recklessly mashed together with an array of synths, samples and sequencers.

Based in Amsterdam, David writes and (poorly) records in the attic space of his apartment, where reportedly hundreds of songs are born and die without ever seeing the light of day.

Tonto
Tonto’s music could be called noise, but it is groovy like hiphop and raw like punk. Tonto is a one-man band with a drumkit and a voice amplified in a jungle of distortions and digital artifacts. His music has blast beats, but also African polyrhythms at times, and a lot of bumbum-cha like ghettoblasta.

Chest Press
Chest Press is Sjoerd Nieuwkoop’s doomer wave project, based in Amsterdam. Highly influenced by the coldest tunes out there now ‘chest press’ sets foot within the electronic punk landscape. Expect piercing guitars accompanied by digital lo-fi drum machines and synthesizers.

Dj Camy Huot
Camy Huot is a French performance artist, music producer, and DJ based in Utrecht. She gravitates towards the obscure tones and artificial beats of minimal wave, synth punk, electro and EBM. She hosts the radio show “Too Many Creeps” on Stranded FM and is involved with Batcage Radio. Additionally, she is one of the founders and organisers of the Wavecrash events at ACU.

BLACK CURRANT DJ Team
BLACK CURRANT is an all-female three-piece from Rotterdam and Amsterdam, formed out of the shared desire to do things their own way and a mutual love for fuzzy guitars and dark and danceable sounds. What started out as a somewhat unconventional online music publication back in 2018, led more and more to dj-ing and hosting at festivals and events, like Down the Rabbit Hole and Grauzone.
