New debate of Amsterdam Global Forum will take place on February 8th. “Europe at Crossroads”

European Union remained (and remains) the only democratic experiment on a supranational level, taking pride in its promising advances, despite being burdened by multiple defects. In other words, economic integration, anchored in the nation-state was prioritised, while Democracy and social inclusion were made secondary to global market dynamics.
With far-right nationalist parties on the rise across the continent, the UK heading for Brexit, and the thorny issues facing member states on the eastern flank, the EU is in disarray and plague by doubts as never before.

We will discuss and reflect on the ominous political, economic and geopolitical present and future of the continent and whether the Union is already in the process of disintegration.
