Terugkerend van onze vakantie presenteren we jullie daarom met trots INNEC, Jacob Maskell-Key, Sofaya, 12 Tribes of Mars, Salutingrome, Sessions en Hala! en in de Etage vindt er een non-stop improv plaats van alle acts INNEC INNEC is een vernieuwende band uit Amsterdam die nieuwe muzikale paden probeert te verkennen – postmoderne invalshoeken die gebaseerd zijn op de veranderlijke tijd waarin we leven. Hun naam is ontleend aan Wassilly Kandinky’s concept van Inner Necessity. In hun muziek vermengen ze improvisatie met uitdagende en open composities waarin de individuele stem van elke muzikant tegelijkertijd schittert en samensmelt. Ignacio Pintó – contrabas Aleksander Sever – vibrafoon Marcus Wärnheim – saxofoon Ludvig Søndergaard – drums JACOB MASKELL-KEY Jacob Maskell-Key, alias Spooky-J, is een virtuoze drummer en geluidskunstenaar die een onheilspellende sfeer weet te creëren. Jacob heeft op verschillende manieren aan de weg getimmerd, bijvoorbeeld als onderdeel van Spooky Shit en met Nihiloxica, een gezelschap waar ook de Britse Peter (pq) en de Oegandese muzikanten Isa, Prince en Jally van het Nilotika Cultural Ensemble deel van uitmaken. Bij Cinetol presenteert hij een nieuwe show naar aanleiding van zijn nieuwe album. Jacob Maskell-Key – drums SOFAYA Trompettist James McClure, die een frisse wind laat waaien door de Amsterdamse improvisatiescene, heeft een nieuwe band opgericht onder de naam Sofaya als onderdeel van onze SITProductions. Op zoek naar de rijke en diverse cultuur van Zuid-Afrikaanse muziek, omarmt Sofaya de aanstekelijke grooves en melodieën die daarin zo uniek klinken. Sofaya wil deze kenmerken in verschillende stijlen naar voren laten komen door het spelen van bestaande composities uit verschillende generaties. De groep is sterk geïnspireerd door meeslepende repetitie en dubversies van Jamaica’s beruchte bass-driven tracks. Deze SITProductions band, geïnitieerd door Andrius Dereviancenko, heeft een intergenerationele en verenigende aanpak en speelt daarbij samen met de legendarische Curaçaose gitarist Franky Douglas. De band, met een podium presence die versterkt wordt door Mitelembe’s activiteit in het theater, speelt een schurende mix van noise-rock, post-punk en blues. Hun muziek klinkt absurdistisch, soms haast duivels, varieert van progressieve rock, avant-pop en improvisatie tot avant-garde, jazz en cabaret. INNEC INNEC is a fresh band based in Amsterdam that tries to explore new paths in music – postmodern directions rooted in the flexuous time we are living. With their name based on Wassilly Kandinky’s concept of Inner Necessity, their music mixes free improvisation with challenging but open compositions where strong individual voices of each musician can simultaneously shine and melt in unity. Exploring the rich and diverse culture of South African music, Sofaya embeds the infectious toe-tapping grooves and melodies that provide such a unique sound therein. Their aim is to emphasize these features in different styles by playing existing and original compositions by South African composers spanning different generations. The group is strongly inspired by entrancing repetition and dub versions of Jamaica’s notorious bass-driven tracks. With an intergenerational and unifying approach, this SITProductions band initiated by Andrius Dereviancenko works together with the Curaçaoan legendary guitarist Franky Douglas.
